Abstract
3-Ureidopropyltrimethoxysilane (CAS No. 23843-64-3), silane coupling agent SCA-U60M, is a bifunctional organo-silane possessing a reactive organic ureido group and a hydrolysable inorganic trimethoxysilyl group. The dual nature of its reactivity allows SCA-U60M to bind chemically to both inorganic materials (e.g. glass, metals, fillers) and organic polymers (e.g. thermosets, thermoplastics, elastomers), thus functioning as an adhesion promoter and as a surface modifier. SCA-U60M is amber, transparent and viscous liquid with an alcohol-like odor and soluble in alcohols, ketones, esters or aromatic hydrocarbons.

as an additive to phenolic, furan and melamine resins for foundry resins and abrasives;
