Description
Formulated Silane SLF-13 (the equivalent product to Silfin 13) is designed for use in two-step like Sioplas Process silane-crosslinking of polyethylene and ethylene copolymers for the power cable industry.
Performance properties of silane-crosslinked polyethylene can meet or exceed those of peroxide-crosslinked polyethylene, which offering advantages in boarder processing latitude and lower fabrication costs.
Formulated Silane SLF-13 (the equivalent product to Silfin 13) is a clear yellowish liquid" which only contains: Vinyl silane and grafting-initiator. Its crosslinking vinylsilane incorporates grafting in a ratio suitable for crosslinking polyethylene in commercially available extrusion equipment.

Reaction Sequence
Formulated Silane SLF-13 (the equivalent product to Silfin 13) is suitable for the preparation of moisture-curing polymers. The characteristic feature of this process is grafting of the vinylsilane to the polymer during extrusion.
After the grafting, the polymer can still be processed as a thermoplastic. Only during treatment with moisture which is usually carried our in a waterbath (80 C~100 C), steambath or even at ambient conditions, the polymer chains are linked together, thereby forming a crosslinking polymer. This reaction is accelerated by using a catalyst.
Formulated Silane SLF-13 contains only the constituents which are necessary for grafting. The catalyst necessary for the crosslinking step can be added as a masterbatch to the grafted polymer, just before the finishing step.
Polyethylene, crosslinking with Formulated Silane SLF-13 (the equivalent product to Silfin 13) is mainly used for the production of power cables in a two- step Sioplas Process.
Packing
The regular packing of this product is 25L PE pail, 200L steel drum and 1000L PE IBC.
